Abstract

Different from traditional manufacturing environments, Human Robot Collaboration(HRC) systems provide for a great interplay between physical world of manufacturing systems and cyber world of computer science and information technologies which will eventually converge. In the context of industry 4.0 , collaborative workstations are expected to takeover shop-floors in future. Many assembly lines have been striving to integrate human intelligence into automation solutions aiming towards productivity-increase. However, the main obstacle is establishing human safety when operating close to heavy industrial robots. In this paper we discuss various HRC systems from the perspective of human safety, remote implementation, application in additive manufacturing and advanced technologies like Virtual reality and Natural Language Processing(NLP)
